Believe it or not, this is a Costa Rican shower head. It's the only way you get hot water here -- and it assures that you're really paying attention. When we were kids they always told us that water and electricity didn't mix, but it's just part of our everyday lives in a new culture here in San Jose. We start language school in a week, and every day we seem a bit more settled...but every so often we get a "shock" to keep us on our toes.
Here's some photos of our house. Not much of a front "yard," but some cool tropical flowers and even a mango tree. There's also a funny little courtyard in the middle, kind of like a hole in the middle of the house. Whoever built this place really loves doors, because the house is full of them. Even the bathroom has FOUR doors, assuring you can always get there quickly if necessary. Our living room is also endorsed by the Wicker Association of Central America.
We joke about it a lot, but this really is a blessing from God. We prayed to find a place that would be close to the language school with Amy being pregnant and then with the newborn. Turns out we live closer to the school than probably anyone else, so we thank God for providing once again more than we deserve!
