Costa Rica

We actually did arrive in Costa Rica nearly 2 weeks ago now. Although it has only been 2 weeks it feels like it has been at least 2 months - the weather is nice - 75-85 degrees every day. The rainy season started off the day we got here, but has been confined so far to just afternoon rain showers, so the mornings are fabulous. Our house is just 2 doors down from the front entrance to the school compound - which will be extremely handy when the baby arrives, hopefully just about 6 weeks from now! We are slowly figuring out where to buy food and supplies, finding new favorite treats to calm down the kids and a great little playground about a half a mile away walking. Actually, the highlight of our stay so far was getting internet access a few days ago. We signed up for Vonage before we left the states, so with the internet access in our house, we actually were able to keep our same, local, home phone number from Fort Wayne. Like, if you live in Fort Wayne you don't even have to dial an area code to reach us in Costa Rica!! (and we're feeling lonely, so please call :) ) The kids struggled a little initially with all the changes and wouldn't sleep or eat like they did before, but their schedule has improved alot in the last couple of days, and Tim and I are starting to get a little more settled and rested ourselves. School starts in just 2 weeks. I am sooooo glad we were able to arrive a little ahead of time. My brain was so foggy these first 2 weeks I could barely handle the necessities of the day, let alone try to make a conscious effort to learn a language. Ironically, even though I have almost been trying to avoid speaking Spanish these first few days because of feeling so overwhelmed, my Spanish has been fine for interviewing a maid (yes, we have one that starts tomorrow and we're so excited), finding our way in a taxi, asking questions at the store and school and chit-chatting with the grandparents taking their kids to the park. It has been fun, but I think I'll enjoy learning the language even more now that we are starting to feel a little more settled here. Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers!!
