It's been great to have Amy's parents visiting the kids -- they've seen Daniel for the first time and been able to catch up with Ari and Isaiah. We all piled in a van and went to the Jardin Botanical Lankaster (Botanical Garden) just outside of San Jose. It was a great time to see some beautiful plants and get out of the diesel-fumed city. Then we ate lunch overlooking a valley and we even saw some friends from Fort Wayne who had come for a missions trip! God really surprised us with that and we had a fun day. Our next excursion should be to La Paz to see the rainforest waterfalls and butterfly gardens. I know, I know, when do we study?
Besides language classes and a new baby, the big challenge and prayer request lately is the paperwork for Daniel's citizenship, etc. Lots of government forms, appointments, waiting in lines for hours, etc. it's just a headache that everyone has to go through. It feels good at the other side because you've negotiated government procedures, and in a foreign language even. Plus there's been a wave of people impersonating immigrations officials here, which makes it that much tougher to get your stuff turned in to the right place. Good times!
Again, thanks for all the wonderful e-mails encouraging us after Daniel's birth. It's so nice to hear from you and we miss you a ton. Have a great day!
Tim
P.S. Cubs in first place! Whoo-hoo!
